Coastal State Fisheries Management Fails, Threatening Future of Fish Stocks.
Coastal states were given control over fisheries in their extended economic zones (EEZ) to manage them better, but this approach has not worked as expected. The belief was that this control would prevent overfishing and protect fish stocks, but it hasn't happened. Coastal states have not been able to stop the decline of fisheries in their EEZs. The future of managing EEZs needs to consider international laws and agreements to protect fish stocks better.
