A long-term study in Bellary showed that using a mix of organic manure and NPK fertilizers led to higher crop yields. Maize yield was highest with FYM and NPK, while safflower yield was best with NPK based on soil tests. Bengalgram yield increased with N, P, and K fertilizers. Organic manure with N and P increased organic carbon and nitrogen levels significantly. Potassium levels increased most with organic manure. Phosphorus levels also increased notably with organic manure and NPK.
