A new design method was tested to make longer and more cost-effective concrete girders. By adding holes in the girder and spreading out the prestressing force, the girder could support longer spans with less weight. A 50-meter girder was built and tested, showing that this new design can work for girders over 50 meters long and 2 meters high.
