Interspecific Cotton Crosses Boost Yield and Quality Traits for Better Harvests
Researchers studied how different types of cotton plants can be crossed to create new varieties with higher yields. They found that a specific combination of two cotton lines, DD-8NLF and MDL-2582, showed significant positive effects on traits like plant height, number of bolls per plant, and seed cotton yield. This cross also exhibited good results for traits like lint index and ginning out turn. Overall, the combination of DD-8NLF and MDL-2582 showed the best response for increasing the number of bolls per plant and seed cotton yield, while other traits showed varying levels of improvement.
