Boosting Kabuli Chickpea Seed Yield Through Genetic Analysis Unveils Key Traits
The study looked at different types of kabuli chickpea to see how their traits affect seed yield. They found that 100-seed weight had the most variation among genotypes, while traits like seed yield per plant and branches per plant also showed high variation. Traits like 100-seed weight had high heritability and genetic potential for improvement. Seed yield per plant was positively linked to branches, pods, and yield per plant, but negatively linked to days to maturity. Directly selecting for traits like biological yield and branches per plant could help increase seed yield in kabuli chickpea.
