High concentrate diets boost nutrient utilization in cattle and buffaloes.
The study compared the feeding habits of cattle and buffaloes with different diets. They found that animals fed a diet with more concentrate had better nutrient utilization and nitrogen retention. Both cattle and buffaloes had similar feed intake and digestibility of dry matter and organic matter. However, diets with higher concentrate levels led to higher protein digestibility. Overall, animals on a diet with a 60:40 concentrate to roughage ratio performed better in terms of nutrient utilization compared to those on a 20:80 ratio.
