Private equity is a type of investment in growing private companies. It helps these companies innovate, create jobs, and grow faster. In 2014, there was a record of $1.2 trillion available for private equity investments globally. While many Asian countries have active private equity markets, Bangladesh is just starting to see some private equity funds coming in. To support more investments and growth, policymakers in Bangladesh need to create a better environment for private equity. This paper is a first step in understanding how private equity can benefit Bangladesh's economy.
