Supplementary irrigation boosts chickpea yields by over 40%! š±š§
Supplementary irrigation was studied on three chickpea cultivars in Ilam, Iran. Different irrigation timings significantly affected seed yield, harvest index, pod numbers, seed numbers per pod, and seed weight. The Filip93-93 cultivar had the highest seed yield, while the local variety had the lowest. Irrigating at the pod filling stage resulted in the highest seed yield increase compared to no irrigation. Overall, irrigation at the pod filling stage led to the highest seed yield, with Filip93-93 performing the best under this condition.
