Contact angles of water in soils and sand were measured. The angle in soils is not zero, even in wettable soil. Sandy loam soil had the largest angle, followed by red soil, laterite soil, black soil, and clay soil. The angle in sand was not affected by a hydrophobic substance. The Poiseuille's equation worked for soils but not for pure sand.
