The study found that planting sorghum and cowpea before wheat, and incorporating cowpea stover, led to the highest wheat grain and straw yields. Adding phosphorus to the previous crops and nitrogen to wheat also increased yields. Wheat growth improved with legume inclusion and nitrogen application up to 75 kg/ha.
