Ammoniated straw boosts cattle nutrition and digestion for healthier livestock.
A study compared feeding cattle different types of treated straw to see how well they digested and utilized nutrients. They found that treating the straw with urea improved feed intake and nutrient digestibility. Cattle fed ammoniated straw had higher nitrogen retention and increased levels of beneficial acids in their rumen. Overall, ammoniating both wheat and paddy straws improved nutrient utilization and fermentation in cattle.
