Indian Ocean fisheries catch a lot of skipjack tuna and yellowfin tuna. In 1986, they caught 262,300 metric tons of these fish. Skipjack tuna made up 32% of the catch, while yellowfin tuna made up 25%. Skipjack tuna can be found all over the Indian Ocean, from the Gulf of Arabia to lat. 40°S. Yellowfin tuna are also spread out in the ocean, up to about lat. 50°S.
