Intercropping soybean with cereals reduces yield, impacting farmers' income.
A study was conducted to see how soybean plants grow when planted with different cereals and given varying amounts of nitrogen. The researchers found that soybean plants grew better when planted alone compared to when they were planted with cereals. Among the cereals, planting soybean with maize gave the best results. Giving too much nitrogen to the cereals in the intercropping system had a negative effect on the growth and yield of soybean. Overall, planting soybean with maize and giving it the right amount of nitrogen resulted in the highest returns and yield.
