Weed management boosts wheat yield, revolutionizing rice-wheat farming system
The researchers found that using sulfosulfuron at a specific rate helped reduce weeds in wheat fields, leading to higher wheat yield compared to other weed management methods like hand weeding and using isoproturon or 2,4 D sodium salt. The wheat crop also removed more nutrients from the soil and had a better response in terms of grain yield with sulfosulfuron treatment. This resulted in higher net returns and a better cost-benefit ratio for wheat cultivation.
