Weed management boosts French bean yield, revolutionizing farming in Kashmir!
The researchers tested different ways to control weeds in French bean fields in Kashmir, India. They found that using certain herbicides before planting and before the beans sprouted helped reduce weed growth. This led to taller plants, more branches, and higher yields of beans. The best results were seen with fluchloralin and pendimethalin herbicides, which increased seed yield by over 1 ton per hectare. These herbicides also helped the beans take up more nutrients from the soil. Overall, using these herbicides increased profits for farmers compared to not using any weed control methods.
