New herbicide method boosts upland rice yield, tackles weed invasion.
Increasing seed rate and row spacing did not reduce weeds in direct seeded upland rice, but using herbicides like pretilachlor and pendimethalin did. These herbicides significantly reduced weed population and dry matter, leading to higher grain yield. Thiobencarb herbicide produced the highest grain yield of 5.51 t/ha. Overall, using herbicides improved weed management and increased crop yield in direct seeded upland rice.
