Combinatorial auctions allow bidders to bid on groups of items, showing if they are more valuable together. Bidders need to figure out how to bid smartly in these auctions. In a study of auctions with two items, it was found that bidders should avoid bidding on sets that overlap if they can bid more than others. However, this advice didn't work in real experiments.
