Intercropping winter maize and beans boosts yields and profits in India.
Intercropping winter maize and rajmash bean with potato using the border ridge technique was studied to see how it affects productivity, economic viability, and energy efficiency. The best combination was potato with winter maize for cob production, which gave the highest yield and monetary return compared to other intercropping systems. This system also had the highest energy output and efficiency. Overall, intercropping potato with winter maize for cob production was the most efficient, productive, and profitable method for farmers in the central plain zone of Uttar Pradesh.
