A study was done in Maharashtra to find the best cropping system for high yield and profit. The soybean-onion system gave the most wheat equivalent yield and money returns. It also had the highest net monetary advantage per day, employment, and water use efficiency. Sorghum-wheat and maize-cowpea-wheat systems had the most nutrient uptake. Cotton-summer groundnut and soybean-onion systems had the best soil nutrient status.
