Stylosanthes hay diet boosts nutrient intake in lactating buffaloes.
The researchers studied how different types of hay affect the feed intake and nutrient utilization of Bhadawari buffaloes. They fed the buffaloes sorghum, grass, and stylosanthes hay along with other food. The buffaloes ate more sorghum hay, but all groups ate a similar amount overall. The buffaloes digested protein better with stylosanthes hay. Stylosanthes hay also provided more nutrients to the buffaloes compared to the other hays. Overall, the results showed that stylosanthes hay diet was the most beneficial for the buffaloes in terms of nutrient intake and digestion.
