Sample size formula determines accuracy of population surveys!
The researchers figured out how many samples are needed to estimate the average of a whole group, based on how much the group's values vary and how precise the estimate needs to be. They found that when the group's values vary a lot, more samples are needed, and when a less precise estimate is okay, fewer samples are needed. They also confirmed that certain formulas for calculating sample size are accurate when applied to real data from farmers' fields.
