Buffalo calves thrive on innovative maize bran and paddy straw feed.
The researchers studied how adding urea or common salt to wet maize bran and paddy straw affects nutrient utilization in buffalo calves. They found that treating maize bran with urea or common salt helps preserve it. Mixing maize bran with paddy straw and treating it with urea improves the quality of the feed. When buffalo calves were fed with the treated mixtures, they had better nutrient digestibility and nitrogen balance compared to feeding on untreated paddy straw alone. This shows that treating maize bran and paddy straw with urea can make a nutritious feed for buffalo calves.
