Revolutionizing rice-wheat cropping for sustainable farming and higher profits!
Researchers conducted a field experiment to improve traditional rice-wheat cropping systems. They found that a sequence of hybrid rice, potato, and greengram was the most efficient in terms of production, profitability, monetary returns, and energy production. Including oilseeds and pulses in the cropping system increased energy output and nutrient use efficiency. Leguminous crops like lentils and blackgram improved soil fertility and productivity. Intensifying and diversifying the rice-wheat system with different crops can lead to higher yields and profits.
