New soil functions predict water retention and stability for improved agriculture.
Researchers developed formulas to predict how much water soil can hold and how fast it can absorb water in Banha watershed in Jharkhand. They used simple soil tests like texture and organic matter. The formulas accurately estimated these soil properties. Other existing formulas were also tested and found to work well in this area.
