Recreational fishing for coastal Atlantic cod in Norway has a significant impact on the population. A study from 2005 to 2013 found that rod and line fishing caused the most mortality, followed by commercial fishing and recreational fixed gear. Overall, recreational fishing accounted for a large portion of the fishing pressure on cod in southern Norway.
