New Study Reveals Key Factors Influencing Flow Over Weirs!
Flow characteristics over weirs with different shapes and sizes depend on factors like the height and width of the weir. The most important factors are the ratios of the height to the width of the weir. Experimental studies show that for weirs with a sharp corner, the discharge coefficient and water-surface profiles vary with these ratios. Weirs with a streamlined corner have a brink depth close to 0.715 times the critical depth when the height-to-width ratio is between 0.05 and 0.25. The discharge coefficients for these weirs are similar to values calculated by a specific method.
