Intercropping with greengram boosts pigeonpea yields and farmer profits.
The researchers studied different ways to manage nutrients in pigeonpea intercropping systems. They tested two types of intercropping with nine nutrient management levels. Over three years, they found that pigeonpea + greengram intercropping gave higher yields and profits compared to pigeonpea + pearlmillet. The best results were seen with 50% RDF + Vermicompost or phosphocompost + 50% RDF. These practices led to higher pigeonpea yields, profits, and returns on investment.
