Unrealistic Population Goals in Peru: Contraceptive Prevalence Unattainable by 2000.
The article analyzes Peru's population policy goals using population projections and finds that the goal of reducing fertility rates by 2000 is unrealistic. The study uses models to project contraceptive usage and fertility rates, showing that the required contraceptive prevalence rate is too high to achieve the goal. Realistic alternatives for population growth through the end of the century are proposed based on achievable levels of contraceptive usage.
