Implants and Rumensin boost steer gains in intensive stocking systems.
The study looked at how different stocking rates and implants affected steer gains in an intensive grazing system. They found that the stocking rate didn't affect steer gains, but the highest rate led to less available forage initially. However, after a rest period, forage levels were similar. Steers implanted with Compudose® and a Rumensin® device gained more weight consistently. The Rumensin device alone helped increase weight gain only at the highest stocking rate.
