Organic farming boosts green fodder productivity and soil health in Punjab.
The study looked at how different nutrient sources affect the productivity of fodder crops in Punjab. They tested four cropping systems and three nutrient management methods. The best green fodder yield was from the maize-berseem-pearlmillet system. Organic nutrient management gave the highest total green fodder productivity and maize equivalent yield. Soil health improved with organic and integrated nutrient management, increasing carbon and nutrient levels. Maize, sorghum, and berseem were the most productive crops in different seasons.
