Hybrid rice varieties show significant increase in yield potential.
Researchers studied how combining different rice varieties can lead to higher yields. They crossed four female and ten male rice plants to see which combinations produced the best results. They found that certain crosses led to significantly higher grain yield, more grains per panicle, longer panicles, earlier flowering, and heavier grains. Some specific crosses, like NAUR 1 x Indrayani, were especially good for increasing grain yield. Overall, the performance of the hybrid plants was closely linked to their genetic makeup, showing that selecting the right combinations is crucial for improving rice production.
