New study reveals nitrogen levels boost wheat yields and weed control.
A study looked at how wheat responds to different ways of managing weeds and levels of nitrogen. They found that using 150 kg of nitrogen per hectare led to more tillers and longer spikes, resulting in higher grain and straw yields. Herbicides like metsulfuron-methyl + 2, 4-D and isoproturon + 2, 4-D were effective in reducing weed growth. The combination of 150 kg of nitrogen per hectare and isoproturon + 2, 4-D gave the highest profits due to increased yields.
