Indian banks show high compliance in corporate governance disclosure, impacting industry standards.
The study looked at how well Indian banks follow rules about sharing corporate information. They checked if banks shared the right details in their reports, as required by the Securities and Exchange Board of India. The researchers studied 38 banks listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange. They found that most banks followed the rules well. They also found that the size, ownership, board makeup, and profits of a bank affect how much information they share about their governance.
