Soil moisture accounting crucial for accurate estimation of evaporation and transpiration!
The study compared different methods for estimating soil evaporation and transpiration by looking at how soil moisture accounting affects the results. They compared three methods in the Indus River Basin in 2007: ETLook, SETS, and SETS-AMS. The results showed that the amount of water moving down through the soil affects the estimates of evaporation and transpiration, especially in wet areas. Not including explicit soil moisture accounting can lead to overestimating evaporation and underestimating transpiration, especially in irrigated regions.
