Groundwater Vulnerability Indices Empower North Carolina to Safeguard Critical Water Supplies
Groundwater vulnerability indices were created for North Carolina using GIS. The goal was to assess the likelihood of groundwater contamination. The study found that all groundwater is vulnerable to contamination. These indices can help in planning land use, managing operations to prevent contamination, and protecting water sources. GIS was used to manage data and develop these indices based on hydrogeologic information.
