Groundbreaking Method Prevents Liquefaction in Silty Sand - Quick & Economical Solution!
Researchers used a method called dynamic consolidation to strengthen loose silty sand soil against liquefaction in Taiwan. They used cone penetration tests (CPT) to check the effectiveness of the improvement quickly and affordably. If the CPT results were below a certain value, they did further tests to estimate the soil's strength. By correlating different test results, they could predict the soil's liquefaction potential. This method allowed for a fast and cost-effective evaluation of the risk of liquefaction in the improved soil.
