Eastern Grape Leafhoppers Not a Major Threat to New York Vineyards
The study looked at how Eastern Grape Leafhoppers move and spread within New York vineyards over several years. They found that the leafhoppers are most abundant in May and tend to be near wooded areas. In some years, the leafhopper nymphs were more concentrated at the edges of vineyards, but overall, they did not cause significant damage to grapevines. The researchers also discovered that reduced insecticide use for grape berry moth control won't lead to a major increase in the need to treat leafhoppers in New York vineyards.
