Hidden Valley Discovery in Indiana Unlocks Groundwater Protection Potential
Scientists in Indiana used gravity measurements to map a buried valley and guide drilling for groundwater exploration. They measured gravity at 270 locations to estimate the bedrock surface, finding depths ranging from 54 to 497 feet. The gravity contours revealed a bedrock ridge trending north-northwest, confirming the presence of a high area. Further gravimetry is planned to assist in drilling deep test wells.
