Land use change in China was studied using a model to predict future patterns. By considering factors like climate and population growth, the model showed that by 2020, farmland will increase in some areas while decreasing in others. Forest area will grow, especially in the northeast and southwest. Grasslands will remain stable overall, with some regions seeing decreases and others increases. Urban areas will expand, mainly in the eastern part of the country. The model accurately predicted these changes based on various driving factors.
