The study looked at water quality near a lake affected by pollution from golf courses and agriculture. They collected data on storm water runoff and water quality over several years. The results showed that the water quality during storms was worse than usual, especially near the golf course. This suggests that runoff from the golf course is a significant source of pollution in the area.
