Kujukuri Beach is shrinking due to less sand coming from cliffs and blockages by fishing port structures. The eroded area is spreading towards the middle of the 33 km long beach. Changes in both beach size and sand type were predicted using a model called BG. The model shows that fine sand moves faster than coarse sand, causing shifts in grain size. The study also looked into adding more sand to the beach to see how it would affect the erosion.
