Observational studies show similar treatment effects as randomized trials: study.
Observational studies and randomized, controlled trials were compared to see if they find different treatment effects. Researchers looked at 19 treatments like calcium-channel blockers for heart disease and found that in most cases, the treatment effects were similar between the two types of studies. Only in 2 out of 19 cases did the results differ significantly. This suggests that recent observational studies are not consistently showing larger or different treatment effects compared to randomized, controlled trials.
