Landfill Leachate Decay Accelerated with Recirculation, Study Finds.
The researchers studied how leachate is produced in landfills by using a simulation experiment. They found that the characteristics of leachate change over time, with recirculated leachate decaying faster. The peak concentrations of certain pollutants in the leachate were measured, and mathematical equations were used to describe the patterns. The results were validated using statistical criteria and showed that the decay of leachate with recirculation was faster than without.
