Beach erosion was studied on the Ariake-Takahama coast in Japan due to the construction of detached breakwaters. These breakwaters caused sand to move away from the beach, leading to erosion. The south beach was particularly affected. As a result, the sandy beach narrowed, and coastal forests advanced. To prevent further erosion, four measures were proposed and compared.
