Urban stormwater runoff heating up streams, threatening aquatic life worldwide.
Urban stormwater runoff can heat up streams, harming aquatic life. A study looked at six areas in Australia and the USA to see how stormwater affects water temperature. They found that bigger areas have cooler and more stable temperatures due to drainage systems. Traditional methods didn't show a temperature spike at the start of runoff, but a new method did. This shows that temperature changes with the amount of runoff.
