New method improves maintenance efficiency for gamma processes with periodic inspections.
The article discusses using a test called Kolmogorov-Smirnov to compare different gamma processes. For processes with regular checks, the test can be used directly. The length of monitoring is more crucial than the number of observations for accurate results. For processes with irregular checks, a method is suggested to create a distribution needed for the test. By sorting the observations, the test's accuracy can be improved. Simulations show that even with increased time intervals, the test's power only slightly decreases. An example is given to demonstrate how this test can be useful for maintenance purposes.
