Freshwater Lake in India Home to Diverse Fish Species, Some Vulnerable.
The article explores the variety and conservation status of fish in Kamalapur Lake, India. Researchers collected fish samples monthly with the help of local fishermen, finding a total of 25 fish species from 7 different groups. The most common order was Cypriniformes with 11 species, followed by Siluriformes with six species. Among the fish species, 13 are of least concern, 4 have insufficient data, 6 have not been evaluated, 1 is vulnerable, and 1 is near threatened. The study also calculated diversity and evenness for different months.
