The article discusses how gender equality is being promoted in Egypt after the Arab Spring. Interviews with those working on gender equality showed different ideas on how to achieve it, conflicts between gender equality and mainstream goals, and difficulties in applying a global strategy in Egypt. The authors suggest that to succeed, men should be involved, cultural differences considered, and women's groups should agree on equality. Progress may be slow, but gender mainstreaming has the potential to advance equality in Egypt post-Arab Spring.
