Revolutionizing Energy Generation: Tidal Turbines Set to Power Coastal Communities
Tidal current energy is a promising clean energy source. Tidal current turbines, like underwater wind turbines, can generate a lot of power in areas with strong currents. This study looked at designing turbines for high-speed locations in the US, like the Gulf Stream and Mississippi River. Different turbine designs were tested using computer simulations to maximize power generation. The research found that tidal current turbines can produce four times more energy per year than wind turbines of the same power rating.
