Landscapes Unlock New Pathways to Enhance Human Wellbeing Across Communities
The article introduces the concept of landscape services, which go beyond just ecosystem services to include the social aspects of landscapes in providing benefits to human well-being. The researchers developed a classification system for landscape services based on existing frameworks and literature on human well-being and ecosystem services. They identified three main themes of landscape services: provisioning, regulation and maintenance, and cultural and social life fulfillment. Cultural services, such as health, enjoyment, and personal fulfillment, were highlighted as particularly important in landscapes but have been less studied compared to other types of services.
